Merry Christmas to All!
During this Christmas season, I am overwhelmed by our little miracle and what she has done to our family. I want to thank everyone for their prayers and support this year; they were very much appreciated.
So, Dylan has just turned 20 years old!! He is in his second year at Penn St on his journey to becoming a "rocket scientist" with his major in Aerospace Engineering. He has accumulated enough credits to be considered a Junior, but he still has a long way to go. He has decided to add a minor this year, Astronomy and Astrophysics. He has been more active at college and has joined the Rifle club, the University Student Launch Initiative, Future Society and Bible study. He is really enjoying his college life and we miss him very much, especially Myanna who loves her big brother.
Amanda has just turned 19 years old!! She is discovering college life at George Mason University. She is getting acquainted to living on her own and making new friends as well as figuring out how to manage time and college courses. She is majoring in Environmental Science and Policy with a concentration in Aquatic Ecology and Conservation, she will be minoring in Dance. She is excited about moving to a new dorm in January where she will have an apartment with 2 other girls, a kitchen and her own bathroom. We do get to see Amanda often since she is close to home and Myanna loves always seeing her big sister. Amanda has grown up a lot this year and she is doing very well.
Myanna has definitely had the most eventful year out of all of us. She has had to go through some things in a very short time period that people never do in a lifetime, like open heart surgery. Through it all, she has come back always happy and cheerful and astonishing us with her accomplishments. Her heart is all fixed now and she is slowly gaining her weight. She is currently the size of a 3 month old; but she will be 8 months in a few days. Even though she is tiny, she is sitting up for a short time, she rolls over-when she wants to-she is talking all kinds of babble and says "hi,dada". She has two bottom teeth popping through as I write and she likes cold things to chew on. She still has her brilliant blue eyes and light brown hair. Our tiny little girl weighs 12lb,13oz and is almost 25 inches long.
Chris is working a lot with overtime and seldom golfing now that the weather is getting cold. He loves that Myanna's first word was "dada". He is planning his spring golf trip and has found out that Myanna likes listening to him play his guitar, his favorite past-time.
Sheri-My life consists of getting my daughter to eat...counting calories and daily weigh-ins can be stressful. I have gotten out, however, and did the Christmas shopping I enjoy sooo much! When Dylan and Amanda were home it was wonderful to decorate the house and tree...I cannot wait until they are home again to start baking. This year has been very emotional and stressful and wonderful all at the same time. At the end of the day, we continue to count our Blessings and fall into peaceful dreams knowing this is how it was meant to be. "God Bless Us, Everyone!"...( I love 'A Christmas Carol' and Scrooge!)

Happy Thanksgiving everybody! We had a great thanksgiving with our family. Myanna did very well with everyone and had lots of fun. She ate well and even took a nap. She's still working on sitting up, about 10 seconds tops so far. She saw her pediatrician on wednesday, Nov. 23rd and she was happy with the progress we have made. She gained 1 pound the last month, which isn't much but its 1/2 oz a day and that's what they are hoping for right now. She is drinking less, only about 12-14 oz a day. So, we have to feed her more solids to make up the difference of calories that she's missing...so far so good.
She weighs 12lb, 10oz; she's 241/4" and her head is 161/2" |

The first week of November has been rather uneventful, except for the fact that we are struggling daily to get Myanna to eat. It is a constant battle, but I am determined to win and I am a stubborn person, more stubborn than she is!
We have had a few milestones, we are trying desperately to sit up and can now manage it for seconds at a time. Myanna can also roll over is she truly wants to but it is not a frequent trick. Aunt Rachele came to visit and brought Myanna a car that she was determined to catch! Amanda came to visit too since it was mom's birthday. She was evaluated by an Early Intervention team and the therapists were very happy with her motor skills, she is right on target for her corrected age. |
