turning 8Myanna turned 8 years old this year. The past year has been a whirlwind of creating a future for Myanna and her goals...
Eight Years! She's eight years old today. Learning more every day from her from the day we met. Her strength is inspiring, her beauty breathtaking, her smile infectious and her love warms your heart. She is such a treasure, we are so lucky and Blessed to have found her. Myanna Marie Rose, you're my miracle heart warrior and so much more. Holding my child in the palm of my hand...frozen moment in time. I can't believe 8 years have passed. I remember it all like it was yesterday. My little one was born at 5:59pm today. Such a tiny little fighter she has always been. In these eight years, I have been inspired, terrified, strengthened, frustrated, bursting with pride and brought to tears...by the brightest light inside a person that I have ever known. She shines from her heart, and what an amazing heart she has. She loves unconditionally, and can brighten anyone's darkest day. She has been able to accomplish things we were told may never happen. She is smart, inquisitive, radiant and pure joy. She is strong and resilient. I love to share her accomplishments with all of you. Today I celebrate my baby girl and the day I was Blessed with her life and all those days ever since. |
Every year since Myanna turned one, I have made a list of what she can do rather than the milestones she had met or not met. I believed in focusing on all the positive things, no matter how minor they be. Sometimes her accomplishments were tiny, but because it took her so long to get there perhaps, it was cause for celebration. As Temple Grandin says, "there needs to be a lot more emphasis on what a child can do instead of what he cannot do."

This is Myanna~ I love nature. I love bugs, worms and insects. I love playing in mud, sand and especially water. The water calms me. I love being barefoot. I have Autism. I am very smart. I love to read. (especially about rocks, the environment and fiction) I have sensory processing disorder. I love bubbles. I love slime and kinetic sand. I have ADHD. I love to run, jump, spin and fall down. (I don't get dizzy) I have Anxiety. I fear being alone or the dark and have irrational fears. I love pizza, spaghetti, mac n cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches. I have eating disorders. I love my dog. I love to draw. (I'm very creative) I love Vampirina . I have OCD. I love my Family. I'm very loving, caring and warm hearted. I love to make people happy. I may not look at you, but I'm listening. I love to make friends. I love to cook and make experiments. I love playing with glue. I love playing the piano and jumping in the leaves! I am Myanna

The second grade |
Second grade started a little difficult but by the end, Myanna was doing very well. She loves to read, but mostly graphic novels. As second year ended, we got ready to start the new school year with less help. Much more trying to be independent is their idea, but I'm not too keen on this approach. I know Myanna still needs a lot of support. She ended with doing well and excited for the summer.

starting a non-profit
This year Myanna was able to have her first communion. We were so very proud of her. She wore Amanda's dress from her special day and received a little lamb from Father Bob. It was a wonderful event and many of her family was able to attend. We are so thankful and Blessed to have the SPRED program at our church to help those children who need just a little bit more instruction and assistance to learn about Jesus.

The non profit is finally on its way, Myannas Heart Totes was official and ready to continue sending gifts to children after open heart children.
This year we set up a group to run in the Inova Starkid5K and it was awesome. This year we have really gotten much more items to send out to our heart heroes. Some companies have been helping by sending gifts that we can add to the bags. It's really the community support that helps so much. The shoe drive in the spring helped get the charity through the summer months.

For a short period of time, Myanna was doing some modeling for a business. We might look into it more in the future, but life gets busy and Myanna isn't really into stopping and posing for photos.
