No fear of Santa this time around!

So much has been going on with our little miss, it's been hard to keep up. School is a big part of her life now and she loves going and being with friends and teachers. She attends special needs pre-school 5 days a week. Her week is also busy with speech and occupational therapy. It's paying off, we have noticed a huge difference in her language over the past 4 months. Her confidence is also blossoming as she is learning social skills and playing daily with her peers. We are so proud of her! We welcomed a new member to our family also this fall, Pixie the Golden Doodle is now Myanna's playmate. She is so much fun and just loves to be around our girl. We are hoping to one day have her as a certified service dog, but for now puppy training is underway.
Holidays have been a whirlwind for Myanna with Halloween being a huge commotion. She waited with much anticipation for Halloween night to arrive, funny since she doesn't eat any candy whatsoever and that's usually what excites the children. For Myanna, it was the costumes and just being around so many people! She was Snow White and her big sister, Amanda, also arrived to trick or treat in a Snow White costume. Afterwards, she enjoyed giving the candy out to all the children. Myanna and I attended our first Walk for Autism this year with some of her classmates, it was really great to be out there and sharing the experience with so many people.
We surprised her by also going to Frozen on Ice. At first she was overwhelmed, but eventually was really excited and her face and smile made it all worth it. Big sister dressed up as Queen Elsa since Anna was dressed as Princess Anna. It was amazing. She also had her first big haircut this year. With her hair getting long and her not liking it brushed, a cute bob seemed like a good solution. She did amazingly well and looks just adorable.
Another big surprise was going on a Disney Cruise! Once again, it was like she was in a fairy tale. Watching her as she walked up to all her real life Princesses was priceless. I had tears in my eyes on more then one occasion as I watched her joy. It was great for Myanna to be with her cousin, Addie on her 5th birthday as well as Uncles, Aunts and cousins. She had a terrific time! Sadly, our beloved Kodi passed away while we were away. Myanna realized he was gone, but luckily Pixie was able to keep her busy and she rarely questioned where her dog had gone. Kodi was only ten years old and we dearly miss him. I think she will always remember him since he was there from the beginning for her.
In December, Anna was just as excited about Christmas as she was Halloween. She wanted to see all the lights on every house and was full of anticipation about Santa Claus...how many times did you read "The Night Before Christmas" this year?? I bet I have you beat. She picked out the Christmas tree and then she helped decorate it. She baked cookies and set up decorations in the house. We went to a special showing to see Santa Claus and once again, I got to see her face glow like I have never seen. That smile of hers is wonderful and just lights up every moment. She was so excited that Santa read her letter she prepared especially for him and told him she wanted "frozen toys".
Dylan had his graduation the week before Christmas and even though I was concerned about how Myanna would be, she did well and stayed with us during the entire graduation. Seeing her brother graduate was wonderful and she was so excited when he came home a couple days later.
Our annual Christmas party brought some more family to our home. Myanna enjoyed having people over and gifts of course! She did great playing and having fun with everyone. I really think this has been a big year for her, she is doing so much better with big events then any time before.
Christmas morning was incredible of course. She woke up and then remembered it was Christmas...shouting "Santa Claus came" over and over again. To their dismay, Myanna woke up her brother and sister at 7 am to open presents. Within minutes, I think they forgave her and couldn't help but smile with her enthusiasm. She was so excited she helped each person open their presents as well as her own! I think everyone was feeling the Christmas spirit and enjoying Christmas through her eyes this year. With awe and wonder.
We had Nanny and Pappap come over during the day and she was a whirlwind of energy as she opened more presents. By early afternoon, she had passed out due to all of the excitement.
The next day we went to Ny to visit her grandparents and more uncles, aunts and cousins. She had so much fun there playing with her cousins that are closer in age. Afterwards, we went to visit Nanny and Pappap's house so Myanna could see all their wonderful lights and decorations, including the outdoor lights set up to the "Let it go" song! She loved it and sang along with it in the car.
As the New Year has come upon us, there are many more questions popping up about Myanna and an MRI that was done on her spine. We will have results and more news about that towards the end of January. I will post once a month now just to keep people updated with photos and more information about our little miracle girl. Such a happy girl!!"
